I have been blessed with an opportunity to become a mentor to a youth in the Youth Academy. The girl that I am being a mentor to is actually my cousin Alex's girlfriend. She is finishing up her high school credits and needs a positive female role model to help her through this 20 week program. I am excited to help her grow and become a young woman! So I start the 17 page application tonight, 10 15 minute online modules, and a 4 hour class in February. This will be a wonderful opportunity to get to know her better and become closer with her.
On other news, I have officially signed up for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day walk for 2011! I am very excited to being this journey again. This year our team name is "Wizards of Bras". This will be my 2nd year walking and my cousin Becky's 3rd year, we have a new member of our team Kellie, she is a breast cancer survivor and we are very excited to welcome her to our team! We have already had one team meeting to brainstorm and get some fundraisers on the books. We will each be raising $2,300. 00 per person, that is a total of $6,900.00!
